Name
Wade Arbuthnot DeFoe
Age
38
Description of Character
Wade’s light brown hair is cut short and neat, and no matter what he does, he almost always appears to be unshaven, despite his razor’s valiant attempts. His eyes are the color of faded dollar bills, with slightly intrusive eyebrows that he enjoys bobbing up and down to no end in the company of others. He is also on the tall side, standing about a head and shoulders above six feet tall with a thin and lanky build. He isn’t toned or muscular, but he isn’t out of shape, either. Comfortably out of shape.
His clothing style is easily described as that of a ‘strangely unkempt librarian’, very old-fashioned and controlled, considering his age. His clothing only seems to consist of one outfit; A basic white cotton shirt, a swanky brown vest that seems to button and unbutton depending on his mood, heavily ironed khaki pants, a pair of gold-rimmed glasses perched on his nose, and stiff black leather shoes. If it’s particularly cold outside, he will sometimes wear a dark blue bowler and a long brown trench coat, but immediately takes them off upon being indoors. Given his current position, though, the hospital gown is his only choice, which he regularly comments on.
Personality
One of the abilities that he prides himself on is the ability to manipulate his demeanor. On the outside, Wade appears to be an eccentric and carefree genius, with exaggerated gestures and a constant smile on his face. He’s always willing to give advice, whether it’s on a busted car or an attractive member of the opposite sex… Overall, he appears to be a likable guy, if a bit unsettling and hard to get used to. There lies the problem, since he can change his demeanor at will, his real personality is well-hidden beneath this clever mask.
Beyond the veil is an all-too-intelligent villain, with a habit of warping everyone and everything so they could meet his own ends. He has a deep-seated desire for the rush he gets when he manipulates someone, which he will go great lengths to feel. He’s easily provoked, controlling, possessive, and generally a straight-up weirdo under the surface.

Background
Wade was born on October 28th to a small family in southern Scotland. His childhood was more or less relatively unremarkable. He was the quiet kid most of the others ignored, not exactly the nerdy kind, but the sort that don’t hold your attention. He became very interested in the human mind, and more specifically, how to manipulate people: even though he was one of the least athletic kids in the school, he often managed to force the big bullies to give him their lunch money. He still got picked on a lot for his intelligence and strange behavior, but more often than not, those who gave him trouble wound up getting suspended later, one way or another.
He finally got to high school, and surprisingly became quite popular, despite the fact that he never conformed to anything. Heck, it was the fact itself he didn’t conform that made him popular. He managed to get great grades while rarely doing homework or studying, and he could make just about anybody do his bidding. By this time, his interest in psychology increased drastically, and he took in a few classes in it over the summer at College. Around this time, he got mild insomnia, which was normal for someone that worked so late into the night… They had to keep awake longer.
High school ended early, as he soon got bored and took his G.E.D, passing with relative ease. He became a full time student at the local College, working part time waiting tables at a rather shoddy breakfast house. It sucked, but at least he had some reliable income. Scholarships, his parents, and the job all managed to bring in enough cash for him to get a degree, and through clever manipulation of various other unmentionables, he was able to bring in even more money.
He had friends, partied, and crammed for finals, finding out ways to fit in quite normally even though he was a lot younger than most of the people around him. College life was great for him, and he set on to get his Ph.D and become a clinical psychologist. That way he could manipulate people to the full extent of manipulation, then make them think it’s all part of the healing process. With these thoughts in his head, he proceeded through every psychology course he could find, and eventually got his degree just as planned.
For a good couple of years, he was a successful psychiatrist. The rush he got from twisting patient’s perceptions to make them healthy again was mind-blowing to him, and while his results were successful, his personal reasons were anything but noble. This caused him to adopt a strange mask of eccentric behavior, so he seemed more trustworthy and kind, like a fatherly figure.
He developed Acute Myelogenous Leukemia along with his already-present chronic insomnia, both of which landed him in the most familiar and dreaded place of his life… The hospital. Strange how this time, he was on the other end of the clipboard. The patient care there was simply horrible, and for once, it wasn’t all in Wade’s mind. They actually were a very sub-par hospital, and with his family’s connections, he was able to get transferred to a newly-reopened hospital in England. Hillton, they called it? Halton? Something like that.
Medical Conditions
Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML)
Severe insomnia
